The B&R Bar by York Barbell is produced to their precise specifications. It has a 29 mm shaft with a 200,000 lb. yield strength, marked for both powerlifting and olympic weightlifting movements. It features the perfect light weightlifting knurl that has made York Barbell famous, with a center knurl for squats and an extra half-inch of smooth steel between the knurls to protect your shins during deadlifts, cleans, and snatches. This bar is bare steel and just like any fine piece of machined steel this will require some upkeep. Occasionally brushing the bar down with 3 in 1 oil or WD-40 will create a beautiful patina look. This is how bars were made for decades and this creates an unmatched feel

Review by JamesA_ABStrongmanQualityI use this bar 3+ time a week. bench, overhead, deadlift, squat. Last Week, a powerlift buddy took it for a rip on bench, and it held 515 solid, with a wide grip. I was squatting yesterday, and at 500, the bar flexed a lot and made stability difficult. I think it is because the bar was on a narrower platform than a wide bench. I would buy a Power bar or a buffalo bar if you are looking for (relatively) big squats, but this bar is EVERYTHING you need for anything else. I am still crazy surprised at the knurling on this. It holds to your back with no issue whatsoever. everything is snug, free spinning, and while the does flex a bit over 400 lbs, it has staying power. Review by TomCQualityI bought the B&R bar four months ago and I am pleased with it. It feels like the precisely machined piece of equipment that it is. The knurling is one of the best I have used. It is not overly aggressive, but provides excellent grip. The uncoated steel feels solid in the hands and on the back. I was surprised at how good it felt with the Olympic lifts, too. The bar spins freely right out of the box and is a pleasure to use for cleans, jerks, and snatches. Even putting the loaded bar down on the ground feels and sounds different than a cheaper bar. It inspires confidence. The sleeves fit properly on the bar and react predictably. The bar responds as a single piece of equipment instead of a shaft with two sleeves bolted on the ends. “Tight” is a word I would use to describe the B&R.
