For an all-around training shoe, you’ll want to choose a shoe that has a good balance between stability and flexibility allowing you to perform multiple movements in them, from weightlifting to running.
Typically you will want a shoe that has a firm sole with a low stack height, or the height of bottoms of your shoe, to provide as much stability as possible. For squatting, a weightlifting shoe with a raised heel can be ideal for those with limited ankle mobility.
