Great chalk...the packaging is not an issue.
This chalk is great. It's super fine, coats your hands well, smells AMAZING (like expensive, sweet cinnamon), and as much as product that's designed to eliminate moisture can reasonably do, it doesn't excessively dry out your hands.
Now, onto the subject of packaging. I have no idea what all the other reviews are complaining about. I never expect the product packaging of the things I buy to also double as storage.
Granted, maybe I'm the only weirdo who doesn't keep my shoes in the original shoeboxes. Or maybe you were confusing this ball of chalk with a certain velvet encased brand of Canadian Whisky...
But, I've found that a 5 cent gallon plastic bag does the trick when I need to bring it to the gym. If you have the money, buy this chalk.

Way better than economy block chalk
GREAT buy. The typical economy blocks of chalk are messy and will basically trash your mats and bars. But the primo chalk ball is clean and chalks your hands with just enough chalk to grip. It might also seem like a small thing, but the little rope on it allows you to hang it up in a convenient spot and easily reapply throughout a WOD.

Primo Chalk Ball is not that primo
We got this chalk ball and have used it for a few weeks. Would not recommend due to hassle to use. Go with the block chock instead, much easier and faster to apply, less mess, and better value.

Worst thing I've even used!!
It males more of a mess then anyting and doesn't work very well at all and if you dont set it down like a sant does when he dropps off the gifts for the kids ;p lol.. then it makes a huge mess by the time your done it looke like you have black AND white flooring.. i would jusy stick with the good old block chalk :)

I think this chalk is great and prefer the powder to the blocks. A far better chalk than the cheap stuff I got at sports authority.
