Entirely Inadequate for Weightlifting (Sn + C&J)
I've been weightlifting (snatch, clean + jerk) for about 15 years. For 5 of those years, I was competitive and totaling what was considered (at the time) the "lower end" of national-level competition in the M 69 kg weight class. For the last 8 years, I've used a pair of Adidas Adipower WL shoes, and they've been great and my all-time favorite WL shoes, but they are now showing signs of wear after ~10 h of use per week. For my new pair, I wanted to stick with Adidas as they tend to run narrower and I have somewhat narrow feet, so after some research, I decided to go with the Powerlift 5. I've given these a fair test for two weeks now, and I unfortunately, I can conclusively say that these are entirely inadequate for weightlifting for two main reasons. One: the sole thickness is very thick, and this effectively increases the distance the bar needs to travel to make a lift from the floor. I didn't think I would notice it, but I definitely do; it's like doing pulls from a deficit, which is great to strengthen your pull, but not what you want when it's time to do the actual lift; you can simply stand on a riser if you intentionally want to perform pulls from a deficit (which I often do), but you don't want this to be inherent with your WL shoes. Second (and more seriously), the support of the shoes under heavy (and even moderate) loads is simply not there. I think this mainly has to do with the construction of the uppers, which overall feel rather flimsy. Just yesterday, I tried doing some front squats with a weight I know I can do without issue and I felt very unstable, almost like I was on ice or wearing flip-flops. Due to the lack of support, with the snatch and clean, I was not able to transfer power completely to the bar during the first and second pulls. With the jerk, I had the same issue during the dip and drive. Today, for comparison, I went back to my previous WL shoes (the 8 year old Adipowers with a ton of mileage on them) and I immediately felt the improvement in the support. The only positive is that these definitely run true to size and are well suited for narrow feet, but beyond that, I'm at a loss. If these work for you, then great, but once you put on a pair with superior support and do some lifting, you will likely notice the difference.

Great shoe, be careful on the sizing
I bought these shoes 3 months ago. I use them only for doing squats. According to my trainer the heal height is just perfect for my flexibility and the depth of my squat. I usually wear a 10.5 athletic. However, I purchased a size 11 for these shoes. Any smaller and the shoes would not fit. These shoes also run narrow across the middle part of the foot. However, given that I use these only for squats and weightlifting, using a slightly narrow shoe adds support to my flat feet. :-)

Adidas squat shoes
The shoes look great, but we’re not the size I ordered. I had to return them for the correct size.

Way too small
My heel-toe length is 10.5". The guide says I need size 9.5. I ordered 10.5 because that's my normal size. They are way too small. I wouldn't have even been able to get my foot in a 9.5.
