Unreasonable Custom fees for Canada
I had a very disappointing experience ordering these shoes from Rogue Canada. First, the TYR L-1 runs small. I ordered my usual size, but my toes hit the front of the shoe and there is not enough room for a comfortable fit. This should be made much clearer on the product page, especially for customers ordering online who cannot try them on first. The bigger issue, however, is the overall cost and complexity of exchanging them from Canada. I ordered through a .ca website, so I was not expecting the purchase to turn into such an expensive cross-border transaction. I was charged approximately $67 CAD in customs fees when I received the shoes. Rogue eventually agreed to refund those fees, but when I contacted them about exchanging the shoes for a larger size, I learned that the return shipping label alone would cost $80.28, and that I would also have to pay shipping again for the replacement pair. On top of that, there are customs implications when returning and re-shipping the merchandise, making what should be a simple size exchange unnecessarily complicated and potentially extremely expensive. I ultimately decided to give up on the exchange and keep a pair that is too small, simply because the additional shipping and customs costs made exchanging them unreasonable. Customers shopping on a Canadian website should be clearly informed before purchasing that the order is shipping cross-border, that customs fees may apply, that exchanges can involve significant additional costs, and that this particular shoe tends to run small. The shoes themselves may be good lifting shoes, but the purchasing and exchange experience for a Canadian customer was extremely frustrating. I would not order footwear from Rogue Canada again unless their shipping, customs and exchange policies become much more transparent.

Buyer beware of grip!
For a little background I compete in powerlifting and were looking for a new shoe for squat and bench. The fit and look of these shoes is great, but similar experience to other reviews the grip on the bottom is the worst in any lifting shoe I've ever worn. I need to figure out if I can sand the bottom or come with another solution. The lack of grip also seems a little sketchy when squatting since you don't want your foot to slip out.

I can't imagine squatting without these now
Squatting feels wonderful again, and I never knew how smooth it could feel! I would recommend these if they are within your budget and you are looking for an extra little "oomph" to get your squat form some help. Definitely order at least 1 size up. My bare foot walking shoes are size 9.5, athletic shoes are a 10, but I needed an 11 in the TYR-L1 for a comfortable fit.

My first lifting shoe. They’re nice but…
I don’t have much to compare these to as they’re my first lifting shoe, but they have definitely helped my squat. (Lowbar back). One thing worth mentioning. Even though these have a wider toe box does not mean they are a wider shoe in general. In fact the overall shoe volume feels small. Despite reading a lot of reviews on sizing and even measuring my foot and being liberal in sizing, I had to remove the insole to make them work. The insole cuts in at a weird part of my foot that created a pressure point while making them feel much smaller than a size 10. (For the record, most of my shoes are 9.5 so I thought it wouldn’t be an issue to go for a 10. I was wrong. But that could be just my foot.)
