Donnie Thompson Casual Bowtie

Developed by powerlifting legend Donnie Thompson and Spud Inc., the Casual Bowtie is a simple accessory for everyday life, helping to counteract the slouched posture that often develops when working at a computer, driving, or using a cell phone. Made from a softer material than the Thompson Formal Bowtie, this design is optimized for wearing over long periods of time as you go about your day. The webbing harness is light and comfortable and doesn’t encumber movement. It works by subtly encouraging sustained upright posture, easing tension on the muscles behind the shoulders and also applying light compression to the bicep tendons.

By wearing the Casual Bowtie on a regular basis, the user can create a sense of muscle memory, as the brain will start instructing better posture long after the bowtie is removed. This can have a huge impact on reducing the problems of shoulder pain and tight pecs, and limiting the risk of more serious injuries down the road.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't listen to the sizing complaints if athletic If you train and have a lot of muscle mass in upper body, the sizing chart is accurate. Im 270 not super lean but big chest and shoulders and I ordered an L based on the other reviews but I should have ordered an XL. Weight distribution looks very different person to person. That's why the sizing is "bad". the product itself is great. However painful to wear a size to small as it scratches the underarms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it, Be Patient, It works Bow tie review The bow tie is a fantastic product point blank. Before I bought it I read through the other mixed reviews posted here and came to the conclusion that not everyone who bought this fully understood the intention of it and what to expect from it. From what I could gather, most thought the bow tie was meant to help with posture which it does to a degree but this is where the bow tie is misunderstood. What the bow tie is meant to do is pull back and hold your shoulders for you which it does admirably. The reason for this is because most strength athletes tend towards over developed chest muscles which pull the shoulders forward and down. I know this was the case for me because I started experiencing shoulder pain near the front of my right shoulder and an MRI confirmed an impingement in the joint according to my orthopedist. Using the bow tie provided relief because it made my shoulders feel almost weightless like floating in water. The bow tie does not correct any muscle imbalances so this relief is initially temporary. The only thing that will correct muscle imbalance is strengthening the opposing muscle group or the back muscles in this case. The bow tie does not help strengthen the back muscles but what it does do is stretch the chest and front shoulder muscles it allowing the muscles in the back and neck to relax from the constant tension of being pulled forward. One other complaint I see in other reviews is that the bow tie is uncomfortable where it meets under the arms. This discomfort is going to vary person to person based on how tight your chest muscles are. What the bow tie is doing is putting pressure on the bottom edge of the chest muscles. It’s another misunderstood intentional feature that is meant to provide myofacial release in tight and bond up muscle. The pressure from the bow tie may be unpleasant at first but overtime the pressure allows the bond up tissue in the chest muscles to release and relax, untying any knots that were contributing to the rounding of the shoulders. The key to this is wearing the bow tie for only a few minutes at a time and gradually increasing how long it’s worn. When I first wore it, the pressure under my arms was sharp and I could only wear it for about 10 mins but just over a week later and I can wear the bow tie comfortably for an hour or more. Be patient and trust that not every remedy will be pleasant but it will work. Last thing is that the sizing is accurate at least for me. I’m about 5’ 8” 200lbs and the large fits across the back of my shoulders. TL;DR Buy it, be patient, it works.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from It doesn't help When you use that your muscles are even less active and when you remove it your posture is even worse because your muscles are inactive with the brace

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fit is a problem Using the size guide I ordered a medium. It was far too small and impossible to put on and take off without help. So I ordered a large - still fits poorly - stil very difficult to put on and take off. I’m very disappointed.
