Product Description

Developed by powerlifting legend Donnie Thompson and Spud Inc., the Formal Bowtie is a simple but effective accessory for helping athletes train and maintain superior posture. In a time when the average person spends much of their day working at a computer, looking at a cell phone, or stuck driving in traffic, the problem of slouching—and the shoulder pain that comes with it—is all too common. The Bowtie attacks this issue by applying firm compression to the pectoral tendons and reducing strain on the muscles behind the shoulders. When worn during warm-ups or as you move through your squats, bench, deadlifts, etc., the Formal Bowtie not only helps limit some of these aches and pains, but also trains more consistent form. Along the way, your muscle memory is rewired, as the brain encourages better posture in your day-to-day life.

Donnie Thompson Formal Bowtie

Developed by powerlifting legend Donnie Thompson and Spud Inc., the Formal Bowtie is a simple but effective accessory for helping athletes train and maintain superior posture. In a time when the average person spends much of their day working at a computer, looking at a cell phone, or stuck driving in traffic, the problem of slouching—and the shoulder pain that comes with it—is all too common. The Bowtie attacks this issue by applying firm compression to the pectoral tendons and reducing strain on the muscles behind the shoulders. Along the way, your muscle memory is rewired, as the brain encourages better posture in your day-to-day life.

The Thompson Formal Bowtie is designed specifically for serious athletes, and is made from a heavier, stiffer webbing material than the Casual Bowtie (which can be worn throughout the day over longer periods). Available in a wide range of sizes, the Formal Bowtie can have a noticeable effect on reducing common shoulder pain and pec tightness, while also reducing the risk of more serious injuries down the road.

Most in-stock Bowtie orders placed before 3pm on a business day will ship that same day from the Rogue warehouse. You can also track your package each step of the way using the Rogue Shipping Tracker.

Tight Bow Tie!
This thing will work as advertised. Its tight enough to cut off the circulation to your hands, but certainly pulls your shoulders back as designed.

Worst purchase of my entire life.
This Bowtie device is one of the worst purchases I've ever made in my entire life. This thing is so poorly designed, uncomfortable, and unusable. I honestly wonder if the guy who developed it put any thought into developing it. It's so uncomfortable, it cuts underneath the armpits into the arms on the anterior deltoids. I wasn't even able to keep it on for 2 minutes it was so uncomfortable, and ridiculous. The material is absolutely unforgiving, and inflexible. It does pull your shoulders back but it hurts like heck under the armpits, and I'm not even sure how you could possibly utilize this during a workout without cutting into your arms and armpits. I absolutely hate this thing! Total piece of junk...

Life changing
Where to begin! I’ve been wearing this 6+ hours a day for a month and my entire thoracic and cervical spine mobility has improved. Using while training and resting. It accomplishes so many things at once- helps keep the shoulders down and back, helps bring awareness to scapular stability and actually helps stabilize them, it applies pressure on the anterior deltoids and pec minor and bicep tendons to help activate these muscles. And then when I take it off there’s no more pain because the bowtie puts all the musculature in their natural resting place and it’s this amazing sensation of being aligned/neutral. For those complaining of pain while wearing it or cutting off circulation etc, that’s just proof you need to be wearing it more. I got the formal and casual and wear them both at different times and for different activities. I do wish there was a way to hide the straps away as they are clunky and make it difficult to hide under clothing so I cut the straps off the casual one to wear under clothes while working at a laptop for this reason. Highly recommend!

Not what you’d expect
The bow tie does pull your shoulders back, but not in a natural position. Also, in the process cuts off circulation to your arms. Furthermore, your arms don’t rest on the side of your body like when you’re normally standing they stick out away from your body, sort of like you’re imitating a Jesus stance, if that make sense.

Works really well.
Having had this a few weeks I am seeing good results. Years of bad posture has led to a painful shoulder when bench pressing, and using cables. Pain greatly reduced. My coach believes more people should wear 'Bowtie's' when pushing weights.

Helped isolate chest for bench
Just like another review I had been struggling with fully contracting my chest during bench press. I had difficulty keeping my shoulder blades pinched throughout the lift and my front delts always dominated the lift. I hadn’t experienced any true chest hypertrophy since pre-covid. My bow tie arrived today and used it for bench and it allowed me to keep my chest up and shoulder blades pinched throughout the entire lift. The chest pump I felt today was amazing. This product is great and does what it’s intended to do. I definitely recommend wearing a thick shirt or tshirt under it as it can chafe your arm pits. Also, wanted to add that there was an issue with shipping and the product never arrived. Rogue was super helpful throughout the process and had another bow tie overnighted .

Tough!!
Love this back strap brace. I have tried a couple of different things that this this just don't seem to do the job. Love this for warm ups or when my shoulders are sore just to help support them. I highly recommend this product for just about anyone. I'm 5'10" weight is 170 I bought the medium it's just about right Its there it reminds me to hold correct posture but it doesn't pull my shoulders completely back.

Wonderful
Love this thing. Hitting 65 and fighting the pull of gravity. This helps with my posture more than anything else I have tried.
