ROGUE AB-3 ADJUSTABLE BENCH

The heavy-duty Rogue AB-3 Adjustable Bench features the same 50+ seat and back-pad position combinations as our AB-2 Bench, but with unique functionality in either the incline or decline position at each setting.

Built in the USA from 11-gauge steel, the AB-3 is a direct descendant of the time-tested Nebula 1080 Utility Bench, with a sturdy but maneuverable design ideally suited for dynamic training or for gyms serving multiple athletes. An updated spine construction also allows for the connection of a new telescoping foot catch assembly, which locks firmly into place using a simple pop pin. The foot catch sets the user up for movements including the decline bench, decline dumbbell press, and decline sit-ups, among others.

If You Already Own an AB-2 Bench: You can purchase our Retro-Fit Kit to swap out your current spine and replace it with the new version in order to add the telescoping foot catch. Customers purchasing the Retro-Fit Kit will need to disassemble some components of their current AB-2 Bench in order to install the new spine.

Other standard features on the AB-3 Adjustable Bench include load-bearing rubber feet for stability, cordura edges for enhanced durability, and a convenient handle and wheels for easy mobility.

good design, some improvement needed on execution
I like the design of the bench and the options it affords. The foot catch can be inserted 180 deg rotated (e. i. for nordic-hamstring curls) but there is no option/hole on the right side of the foot catch insert to secure it with the detent pin. This would be a great upgrade to future versions since better enabling nordics would add versatility to an already expensive bench. Some of the issues: 1) The lower part of the handle at the front chafes against the frame which removes material from the grip. It already arrived with wedges on the handel that make gripping it a little uncomfortable (probably arises during shipping). 2) The fit of the Angle-setting of the seat is poor. If I want to set it to a decline I have to force it down and it scrapes against the rest of the frame, this has already removed the black coating here. As a separate issue the pin to fix the seat has to be screwed out an additional 0.5 cm in order for the angle setting to pass it. This is a bit of an inconvenience as it gets stuck periodically. In summery: Unless you are sure you want the additional angle options and the footcatch, I think most people would be better served with the Rogue Adjustable Bench (I have the 2.0) which is cheaper. Though I prefer the feet and wheels on the AB-Adj Bench 3.

Great bench
The bench is amazing and built to last like everything rogue makes. I do however wish rogue made a preacher curl attachment. That would make the bench perfect.

2 Stars, Disappointing & Lackluster
1) The lifting handle feature is not designed / manufactured properly, it digs into the top of the frame and removes material (see photo). The lug doesn't even hit the second bolt until more force is applied which removes material and ends up getting stuck. Do I have to grind it down and touch it up? Yikes... 2) The fit between the lifting lug is very sloppy and it's only going to get worse as a portion of the through holes on the lifting lug are on the threaded portion of the bolt. 3) The feet have sharp edges on them. There's no edge break or anything, have fun stubbing your toes on these sharp edges. It would take a few minutes to have someone grind down the sharp edges at the factory... Suggestions (aside from from fixing 1 to 3): A) Change the profile near the headrest to resemble what the seat looks like. B) The woven liner that runs the perimeter of is already fuzzy and frayed in some areas. I have concerns about how this will hold up in the future. It'd be nice if it looks like my Thomson Fat pad bench.

Heavy duty
This is one of the best benches I’ve used. Doesn’t slide around, and is well made.

A massive peace of sreeleart
Just moving the bench can be part of a workout. It is very well made, as you are used to from rogue. With the handle under the seat and the wheels at the other end, the bench can be easily arranged despite its heavy weight. The bench is very comfortable and very stable even with sit ups and negative bench presses. This is quality, where form follows function. Every time I enter our gym, this good piece puts a smile on my face

Versatile bench!
This review was going to be geared towards CrossFit people. For my home gym I don’t have enough room for a GHD, this bench serves as a great alternative. With the decline attachment you can do decline sit ups instead of GHD sit ups. To do Gluth ham curls you can turn the decline attachment upside down and flat in the bench to do the curls. Since likely you need a bench The precious space is already required. This bench also sits perfectly upright can take up about 2 x 2 when not in use. I’ve had this bench for over two years and it’s still in great condition. Quality is excellent. I will say that the spacing for the wheels is too great and I had to get eight 1/2 inch washers to fill the gap. other than that I have Nothing but love for this bench!

Favorite piece of equipment
I hesitated to buy this bench for a few months, mainly due to the price. I looked at other brands for half the price but ultimately felt that I might get a few years out of them before things started to wear out. I’ve learned with Rogue, that if you buy it once you never need to buy it again based on the incredible USA build quality. I finally pulled the trigger and could not be more happy with this bench. It’s so strong and sturdy that you’ll feel as secure as you can be, which to me is one of the most important aspects of any bench. Love those weighted decline sit-ups with the leg extension piece. No regrets, invest for life.
