Durable Construction

Just as precision American manufacturing creates a better barbell, it helps produce a stronger, higher-performance barbell collar, as well. Rogue USA Aluminum Collars are CNC machined using ultra-durable 6061 billet aluminum—a material that’s been used for years in the aeronautics industry. We also include a strong anodized finish for max wear resistance (clear silver), along with laser etched branding in both the collar and the lock-open lever.

Tight fit, a little too tight
I just got these, and they are my first collar of this type. I was really surprised by how hard they are to close. Yes, I have an Olympic size barbell. The first time I closed these on the bar, I basically had to stand on them to get them latched. The root cause of this is that the latching mechanism actually extends a little beyond the inner diameter of the collar, so it actually cuts into the bar when closed. After I got it closed the first time, it wore away some of that extension, allowing a somewhat easier experience on the subsequent closures. It's better than the awful spring clamps, but only slightly.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and continuing to work with us to determine what is happening with the collars you have. We apologize for any issues.

Great product, but one drawback
Pros: - Insanely tight locking mechanism (see ggr collar test) - Easy one-handed use after first couple of sessions - Built like a tank Cons: - Will damage your plates Overall, I bought these because I wanted some bulletproof collars that would not fail during solo lifting sessions. These collars were highly ranked by GGR and were fairly inexpensive (for higher-end collars). However, I failed to consider that a tight locking mechanism paired with an all metal construction could potentially damage your plates quite badly. After one session of deadlifting, these actually took a small chunk out of my bumpers and several chips out of the powdercoat on my metal plates. It would be cool to see an Alu collar 2.0 that implements the same protective mechanism as the rogue/OSO CM1s. To remedy the issue of damage to plates, it's possible that some rubber plugs could be inserted into the thicker part of the collar (the vertices of the hexagon). These inserts would make it rubber that contacts your plates, not hard metal. I actually ordered CM1s after using the Alus for a couple of lifts, because I'd rather sacrifice some of that insane locking power for less chunks out of my bumpers!

Best collars out there!
Seriously worth it. These collars are solide and the quality of the material is excellent, it keeps the plates tight together and it locks very well. The one bad thing to them is if you have an old barbell with thicker 2 inches sleeves, these won't fit and will not close at all. So be mindful with that before purchasing them.

These are hard to close and dangerous to open.
I ordered these collars because I don't like the standard ones at my gym. They are a metal coil that are tough to use if you have small hands. I was hoping these would be easy to use like the big plastic style... But with less plastic. But that wasn't the case. These were extremely difficult or impossible to close. When I did manage to close them they snapped open with such force I thought I'd broken a bone when it whacked me. These were the opposite of what I was looking for so I returned them. Not sure what I'd recommend them for but definitely not your standard lifting session with a barbell.

We're sorry to hear these did not work out for you! Our Rogue USA Aluminum Collars are compatible with any standard Olympic barbell sleeve. If the bars these were being used on were in spec to a standard Olympic sleeve, please let us know so we can look into any potential issues with the collars.
