Product Description

The Rogue CB-4™ 38MM Camber Bar was developed in collaboration with Westside Barbell, and made its public debut as the “Double T” Bar at the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic (nick-named in honor of the late Dr. Terry Todd). The goal with this design was to build a curved / bowed specialty bar suited not only to the world’s top powerlifters and Strongmen, but athletes of every size and ability level. To get there, we started with a series of different prototypes–of varying diameter, bend angle, and knurl pattern–and sent them all over to the least compromising focus group in the iron game: the athletes at the Westside Barbell Gym. Through their repeated testing and direct feedback, we were then able to determine which specs best delivered all of the key benefits we were looking for.

Rogue CB-4 38MM Camber Bar

Design Intent:

  1. A bar that takes pressure off of the shoulders and elbows, allowing athletes with flexibility issues or injuries to continue to squat heavy.
  2. A bar that accommodates the size of the strongest competitive and at-home lifters, giving them room to place their hands wider apart than a standard barbell.
  3. A bar that allows athletes to increase their range of motion when benching while, again, keeping undue stress off of the shoulders and elbows.
  4. A bar that enables athletes to build strength with less weight . . . specifically, by providing the optimum drop between the center of the bar and the sleeves, the athlete is forced to keep the lower back tight in the squat, resulting in a stimulus greater than that of the same weight on a straight bar.
  5. A bar that does not bounce at high weights of 900 LBS or more, reducing safety risks.

The solution was the CB-4 Camber Bar, a 60LB, 38MM curved power bar with a 4.4” drop and a substantial 55” wide bend, giving athletes of every size the ability to find a point on the curve that works for them. In addition to allowing more hand placement flexibility, the extra 9” of distance between the sleeves also ensures that–on most racks– the cambered portion of the bar won’t flip down when unsupported.

The 95” shaft of the CB-4 is machined at our Columbus factory with our power bar knurl, then precision-bent by one of our local partners and finished with a Black Cerakote coating for excellent corrosion resistance and a firm grip. The rotating sleeves are friction welded and machined in-house and given our new proprietary matte black finish, which is the best in the industry for extending the vibrancy and longevity of the color. Once assembled, all bars are individually tested and assessed for quality before shipping out. This includes ensuring that each sleeve is straight, within an angle tolerance of +0.5 / -0.0 degrees.

*Please Note: The optional Proprietary Matte Black metal treatment process also hardens the steel, which can cause some additional friction with plates that have a chamfer.

Key Features of the CB-4 38MM Camber Bar

1

Put to the Test at the Arnold Classic

This bar made its public debut as the “Double T Bar” (in honor of Dr. Terry Todd) at the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic. In the Maximum Squat event, it handled extremely heavy loads up to 966 LBS, proving it had no limitations even at the highest levels of competition.

Developed with Westside Barbell

Rogue worked with the team at Louie Simmons’ legendary Westside Barbell to test and refine the CB-4 Camber Bar, giving their athletes a wide range of different bar diameters and sleeve spacing in order to identify the specs that would best achieve our central goals: reducing stress on the shoulders and elbows; enabling greater flexibility in hand placement; improving safety on heavy lifts; and allowing athletes to build strength with less weight.

Greater Strength Gains, Less Weight

By providing the optimum drop between the center of the bar and the sleeves (4.4”), the curved design of the CB-4 Camber Bar forces the athlete to keep their lower back tight in the squat, resulting in a stimulus greater than that of the same weight on a straight bar.

All Local Construction

The CB-4 38MM Camber Bar is machined and assembled at the Rogue factory in Columbus, Ohio, with additional precision bending of the shaft provided by one of our local partners. We used our standard power bar knurl (with center knurl) for a firm grip, and the rotating sleeves are friction welded for a bond as strong as a single piece of steel. The 38mm diameter bar weighs 60 LBS unloaded and features 16” of loadable sleeve length with an angle tolerance of +0.5 / -0.0 degrees. All bars are backed by a Lifetime Warranty.*

Always Finish Strong

The bar’s shaft features a Black Cerakote finish; this is a ceramic-based coating first widely used in the firearm industry for its remarkable durability in thin applications. Few finishes offer better corrosion resistance over time. For the sleeves, we used our equally robust proprietary matte black finish, which greatly extends the longevity and vibrance of the color far beyond traditional barbell finishes.

amazing bar
I bought this bar do to my lack of shoulder mobility i can t squat with a striaght bar . The camber in the bar makes squats doable again . I also love the bar for deadlifts when my lower back feels tires . it starts the deadlifts with hams and glutes engaged no risk to lower back . the bar is also great for pressing with my bad shoulder

Overall nice bar
I initially thought I didn't need this bar, and after using it I was right. But, I’m glad I got it. Pros: - The thickness of the bar and knurling feel good for bench and shoulder press. - Provides good shoulder relief for back squat (only with max wide grip). - This may be different for everyone, but I feel less shoulder discomfort when using this bar for bench press; more so than my swiss bar. - The cool factor of the bar being so different and being used in the strongman contests provides good motivation. Cons: - The shipping container for the bar was about 3/4 cut open towards one end of the tube when it arrived. Some of the coating was rubbed off exposing bare metal on some of the knurling. Rogue made it right by crediting me some money back. - The sleeves are on the thicker side, so the weights go on and off with more friction. When I go to pull off the weights, the friction is sometimes strong enough to pull the entire bar towards me causing my J cups to get shredded in the process. So, I have to always be careful when I take off the weights. Other considerations: - I wouldn’t get this bar thinking it will provide a meaningful increase in range of motion for bench pressing unless you want to do very wide grip presses. When I grip the bar a little past shoulder width, the increase in range of motion is almost insignificant. - This bar is long, so make sure it can fit not only in your rack area but also in your vertical barbell holder without hitting the ceiling if you have one. - If you are trying to decide whether you should get this or a safety squat bar for more comfortable squatting, I would get the SSB first… and then this bar second. I have both, and there is no contest for which is more comfortable for squatting for me. - Don’t underestimate the possible increase in motivation to lift from the cool factor of this bar. It’s just really cool and fun to use. - Better not to mention to your wife this bar was used in the worlds strongman contest unless you are very strong. When I mentioned this to her, she looked confused and asked me, "Then, why did you get it? Isn't there a bar for weak men?" I still love her.

CB4 bar
This bar makes heavy squats more bearable on your shoulders. The thickness of the bar makes it far more comfortable and doesnt dig in. You do have to consider the extra length on this bar if you have limited space.

Awesome cambered squat bar
Got this one to replace the cambered bar that wasn’t holding up in the garage environment. Feels great when squatting. Stays upright unlike other bars regardless of load. Knurling feels great even though cerakote and sticks to the back. Sleeve coating is resilient even with calibrated plates.

Great, but the sleeves
The barbell is great, but the sleeve are just a little too wide for my Rouge plates and the sleeves grind a bit when loading plates.
