Physical Strength Can Only Take You So Far

Reigning CrossFit World Champion Rich Froning is “The Fittest Man on Earth.” He’s fast. He’s strong. And he’s incredibly disciplined. But it takes more than physical strength to compete and win at an elite level. It takes incredible mental and spiritual toughness as well. And it is the precise balance of all three that makes Rich Froning a champion.

In First, readers come alongside Rich as he trains for and competes in back-to-back-to-back CrossFit World Championships. Along the way, Rich shares invaluable training tips, motivational techniques, and spiritual insights that, in keeping with the CrossFit philosophy, will prepare you to respond to any real-life physical, mental and spiritual challenge.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Easy Read, Repetitive It is a quick read with very little substance to motivate or inspire or guide athletes. As well, I found it to be repetitive with the sharing of some of his personal experiences or his faith. As a non-believer who respects religions, this was a bit too much and I had to skip pages. In the end, I was happy my read was over and that it was short. Rich is a good man and fantastic athlete, and I believe that a good writer should write Rich's life story one day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from refreshing and honest It was an easy read. It was nice to hear about his personal doubts and how he works around them. I also enjoyed reading of his relationship with God and his family.
