Adjustable Angle

The Kabuki Transformer Bar is a unique, adjustable safety squat bar that allows athletes of all skill levels to hone a variety of squat movement patterns with much greater efficiency. The cambered pop-pin mechanism can be set at (6) different fixed positions separated by 30 degrees of variance, replicating each of these common squat movement patterns:

1. Hip Hinge: Good Mornings and teaching hinge patterning
2. Back Squat: Low Bar
3. Back Squat: High Bar
4. SSB: For using like a traditional Safety Squat Bar
5. Front Squat: Load Counterbalancing similar to a standard front squat
6. Goblet Squat: In style of a kettlebell goblet squat

Adjustable Difficulty

In any of those angle positions, the user can additionally adjust the “difficulty” setting of the lift via a second mechanism, which offers (4) different placement options for the weight sleeve (i.e., the distance between the center of mass of the weight and the bar on the lifter’s back).

  • Easier: Sleeve at Top of Bracket
  • Easy: Sleeve at Second Position from Top
  • Hard: Sleeve at Third Position from Top
  • Harder: Sleeve at Bottom Position

In total, the Transformer Bar creates 24 different setting combinations, giving large and small gyms alike an extremely versatile tool for changing loading and movement dynamics–whether for a full team of athletes or the evolving regimens of a select few. Once a setting is selected, the bar's longer handles and proprietary bend provide a balanced "center" that allows the lifter to comfortably focus on their form.

Note: The short and standard length handles options are included.

The fully adjustable Transformer Bar from Kabuki Strength has been put to use in thousands of training facilities, from home gyms and rehab training centers to the pro and college ranks. Now, the latest edition of this unique specialty squat bar has moved its production to the Rogue factory in Columbus, Ohio, where we’ve been able to adapt the established model with several new upgrades and refinements. Each bar weighs 25KG (approx 55LB) unloaded, with 15.75” of loadable sleeve length and a load capacity of 1,500 LBS. The stainless steel knurled handles are spaced 12” apart and measure 1.15” in diameter, and the machined Olympic sleeves include precision grooves, designed to work with any standard Oly collars.

6 Fixed Squat Position Settings

The simple pop-pin mechanism of the Transformer Bar can be easily set at (6) different fixed positions separated by 30 degrees of variance. Each setting replicates a common squat movement pattern, including the Hip Hinge, Low Bar Back Squat, High Bar Back Squat, Safety Squat Bar, Front Squat, and Goblet Squat.

4 Difficulty Settings

Along with selecting the camber angle of the bar, users can also choose the positioning of the weight sleeve within a second bracket. This adjustment determines the distance between the center of mass of the weight and the bar on the lifter’s back, automatically increasing or decreasing the difficulty of the lift. The four options range from “Easier” (at the top of the bracket) to “Harder” (at the bottom), and the Rogue version comes with a new detent pin to help lock the sleeve into place. With 24 total setting combinations, the Transformer Bar is a particularly versatile training tool, whether for a seasoned lifter honing their form or a novice learning the movements.

New Proprietary Matte Black Finish

New Proprietary Matte Black Finish

The Rogue version of the Kabuki Transformer Bar also introduces a new PMB finish on both brackets, as well as laser-etched markings to note the sleeve and pin position settings. Our Proprietary Matte Black finish utilizes a process that effectively transforms the surface of the steel rather than coating it, greatly increasing the brackets’ long-term corrosion resistance and color endurance.

It’s a great piece of equipment
I like that I can modify the bar to work with my biomechanics. For someone with somewhat limited mobility, this bar makes it so I can break parallel with bare feet and a neutral spine. The variety also helps to stimulate different muscles involved in different angles. I squat to be strong, not to see how much I can squat with a straight barbell. I love the arm positioning. I debated this purchase for years, it’s expensive but it’s awesome. I’ll use this for a very long time I’m sure.

Old, Broken, Love squats but have pains? Read me.
I'm not normally a reviewer of things I purchase but there are two things that stand out in my experience that I *need* to write about. First, my purchase experience with Rogue was outstanding. The service chat experience was super helpful and made me feel heard - that helped make my purchasing decision easy on an expensive item. Second, (Yeah, for sure) the Transformer bar is not a cheap barbell but it allows me to front squat without wrist pain, back squat with better upright posture (mitigating low back pain), and do good mornings (which further increases my low back strength and health). There are few items in my home gym that I feel like "oh, gosh, why didn't I buy that sooner!" and this is definitely one of them (the other one that comes to mind are adjustable dumbbells and a FID bench). If you're on the fence and you have similar limitations as I described above... I highly recommend it.

Perfected!
I tested this bar upon receipt, having researched it as much as can. The tolerances on the sleeves are ideal. In fact, the bar itself, pads, welds, etc. are perfect and there is nothing I can provide that diminished the fact that this to me is the ideal version of the transformer bar in its current iteration. Really well done Rogue, and thank you for the excellent quality control!

One Squat Bar To Rule them All?
As a doctor of physical therapy who is no stranger to squats of all kinds and have had my share of injuries from such endeavors; I must say this bar is a fascinating creation that I just can't get enough of. The ability to change squat positions on the fly with no shoulder joint discomfort and no knee pain is absolutely amazing. I feel this bar is a wonderful addition to anyones basement or garage gym or even rehab facility where safety and muscle activation is of the utmost concern. There were a few areas of minor surface rust on the bar sleeves but nothing that can't be dealt with. Thank you a great experience. I will continue using Rogue in the future.

Huge SSB upgrade!
Got this as an upgrade from the original Rogue SSB, and have used it in a few different configurations so far. “Goblet” squats with this feel a little different than traditional goblet squats with a dumbbell, but being able to load more weight is nice. As a regular SSB replacement it is fantastic. I really appreciate the pad on this one being as beefy as it is - the classic SSB’s pads were a little thin and the seams would often rotate around and cause the bar to sit hard on the shoulders - all solved here. Can’t wait to use it for step-ups!

Good but not Perfect
Got this bar and have had a chance to compare to a few ssb’s now including the rogue sb-1. Overall i am happy with the bar. - I really like the feel of the shoulder pads. the vinyl came damaged but rogue is replacing it no hassles. overall the fit of the vinyl is a bit loose, so aesthetically it lacks a bit. - the knurling is very nice but i wash there was more on the shorter handles. - the bar came with some scuffs on the right side where you would rack it, but i did not bother worrying about it cause it will see more scuffs in time. - i like the adjustability, mainly the ability to do low bar settings. this ability to change the setup is the key. i want to replicate high and low bar… not something between a high bar and front squat. job well dine. - no issues with the system but you need to centre the bar when racking as the knob for adjusting can catch the j cup depending on how the bar is set (if the bar rotates). - the movable sleeves are nice but is an area for improvement. the sleeve has a slightly raised area that contacts the drop arms. however i think it is machined so exactly in terms of width that when inserted, the raised area is a mm or so short on the plate side. i think the powder coating is what pushes it out of tolerance. Not a big issue but the weight sleeves have some wiggle. a few more mm on that contact area may not solve the issue, but would ensure full contact between the drop arms and sleeves. - I do wish the sleeves came with end caps. So i have listed some feedback, but the bar feels great (but the cover fit could be better), i appreciate the lower 55lbs vs the sb1 (70lbs), and the adjustability is fantastic.Rogue customer service addressing one small issue was excellent. this a keeper and will be my new go to ssb… but for my kids i may still try a maars bar lite.

Amazing Tool
I have only had the bar a couple of weeks but absolutely love it. The ability to adjust from LBBS to FS in the same bar with the safety of a yoke is a game changer. At 46, I am able to train more safely with greater intensity. Thanks Kabuki and Rogue!
